As tutoring companies and tutors we like to do … and I have met wonderful new friends on the Tutors’ Association trade mission to China who all go beyond the Soundbite … 👍 👏
Part of the Soundbite is promoting our brand, and we use platforms such as Linkedin to do this, and this is great for virtual connections and collaboration to drive engagement and eventually business.
Some of us are better at promotion than others, and others prioritise quality delivery and through word of mouth and other marketing activities perhaps put less focus on promotion. Perhaps we can all improve our promotion, our sound bites. We certainly pitched to our Chinese educational colleagues and friends in Beijing and Shanghai during British Consulate Trade Mission events. How can we refine our pitches further? 🙋♂️ 😉 👌
That said, what impresses me beyond the soundbite is action (which speaks louder than words) and how our China Trade Mission group have developed or are developing their tutoring businesses, being entrepreneurial, collaborating with fellow companies, tutors and Chinese education businesses, taking risk to aspire to reward – being the first trade mission and being fellow “Frontier” travellers. 🎇 🎉
We have also learnt so much about China, the notion of family and the importance of deep relationships in business inspired by Eastern philosophy. Equally the TTA under John Nichols leadership organizing such a mission is dynamic and bold – fantastic! In addition when I see tutoring companies and tutors online taking action that also inspires.
In our China trade mission group I was the only individual tutor. It has been an investment and time will tell of the tangible cost benefit. Through connections within the delegates and deepening connections in China with existing clients and new potential clients, I believe the trip to be a success (should I say brilliant success just to big myself up – no …. 😉). Perhaps other individual tutors may consider going on a future TTA trade mission?
